Social media users in the European Union will be able to make complaints against Facebook, ByteDance's TikTok and Alphabet's YouTube over content moderation to a new independent body set up in Ireland.

Social media users across the European Union will soon have a new forum to challenge decisions by platforms to remove posts and videos for breaking their rules or leave up others that may violate them.

The Oversight Board, which is funded by Meta, is spinning off a new appeals center to handle content disputes from European social media users users.

European Union residents will have a new place to turn to settle disputes with Facebook, TikTok and YouTube. A new Appeals Centre, certified by Irish regulators, will soon begin accepting complaints about content moderation decisions.
