Cynt Marshall will retire as CEO effective Dec. 31 and will remain in the consultant role through December 2025.

Marshall became the NBA's first Black female CEO when then-Mavs-majority owner Mark Cuban hired her in 2018. During her tenure, she helped the organization emerge from sexual misconduct and harassment controversies with the hiring of other female team executives and a focus on diversity and inclusion—along with female-focused programs like Girls Empowered by Mavericks (GEM).

After she retires, she will stay on for another year as a consultant in the organization where she is credited for a comprehensive overhaul of workplace policies.
