SPOILER ALERT! This post contains major spoilers for Episode 7 of FX’s Grotesquerie. Audiences were probably wondering how FX’s Grotesquerie would sustain another four episodes when Niecy Nash’s Lois Tryon had seemingly caught (and killed) the serial killer on the loose.

Expect a "series of reveals" still to come as the Niecy Nash-Betts horror story continues to roll out its final episodes, barreling towards a finale that will set up a second season, say show mastermind Murphy and FX boss John Landgraf.

The TV mogul tells Deadline that he would “strongly disagree” with suggestions that Grotesquerie should have been under the American Horror Story banner, or that Aaron Hernandez’s story would’ve been better suited as a new installment of American Crime Story rather than the first in a new anthology series, American Sports Story.

What we’re trying to talk about in this show is something we’re all feeling, which is: No matter what side you’re on or who you are, the question is, is this really happening?” the megaproducer says of episode seven’s huge left turn.

This reveal changes the show moving forward and it's only just the beginning. Murphy declines to speak too much about the Father Charlie and Sister Megan development because, as he says, "We're not done with Grotesquerie," now using the word to refer to this dark reality inside Lois' mind.

Grotesquerie follows Nash-Betts’ Detective Tryon as she investigates a series of heinous crimes in her small community, which she quickly begins to feel are eerily personal, as if the killer is taunting her. She finds a few unlikely allies along the way, including Kelce’s Eddie as well as a journalist nun named Sister Megan (Micaela Diamond).
