David Goffin has become only the second player to defeat Alexander Zverev head-to-head on hard, grass and clay courts at ATP level, along with Roger Federer

Zverev is coming off a 6-7, 6-3, 4-6, 6-7 defeat at the hands of No. 12-ranked Taylor Fritz in the quarterfinals at the US Open. In the past two years against one another, Zverev has two wins and Goffin has zero. In their last meeting, on May 30, 2024, Zverev won 7-6, 6-2, 6-2.

World no. 66 David Goffin made a massive upset in the fourth round of the Shanghai Masters. The Belgian ousted world no. 3 Alexander Zverev 6-4, 7-5 in an hour and 56 minutes, moving into his first Masters 1000 quarter-final since Monte Carlo three years ago!
