As Hurricane Milton intensified on its path toward Florida's Gulf Coast, the strength of the system increased the severity of the storm surge forecast.

As the Milton makes landfall, storm surge of 10-15 feet is expected in areas within 50 miles south of the eye of the hurricane.

Tampa is still in the process of recovering from a record-breaking storm surge after it was grazed by Hurricane Helene just two weeks earlier.
